Forum: GratefulDead Subject: ..an honest Request....

Hello:
Even though I reside in "No-Man's-Land-Motel" where all the days are just like any other day that's ever been, I am aware of how many of you fine folks are enjoying a special Holiday Weekend. It is wonderful to think about how many people around the world are joining together and putting aside the mundane reality of day-to-day life (even if it is only for a couple of days.) It feels that positive energy is more readily available during these unique moments: --- I humbly place one request before you:

Please take a moment or two and think about "direwolf0701" and send him some of that positive energy from the cosmic connection of the unbroken chain we share: say a prayer, think about one of his witty posts that put a smile on your face, think about his favorite "Terrapin Station" [1987-09-18, MSG], or just do whatever feels right for you --- even for a few moments --- something that reinforces the belief that Miracles do happen and Grace exists.

We gotta take care of each other, especially since the rest of the world has such a misguided preconceived opinion of our tribe and has thrown a lot of negative energy upon us for decades.

May Grace be with you and "direwolf0701,"
--- AshesRising

Thanks Ashes. Will do. I don't know direwolf's situation or anything else, but it doesn't matter anyway. For those of us who celebrate this weekend for its Xian meaning it is indeed a celebration that death willl not overcome life, hatred willl not overcome love, fear will not overcome hope and that there is a light in the darkness and the darkness will not overcome it...if you look at it right! Best wishes direwolf.

Hello ashes- and everyone else. :)

it has been quite some time since i posted here, and i want to say hello, and wish everyone well.

even thou there is not a single post to suggest it, or an e-mail or any proof to back it up- the truth is, i have thought of Don every single day since the last time we spoke.... and just to let everyone know that conversation didn't end well.

but deep in my heart i have had hope that he is doing well, and getting treatment, and working thru many issues. i hope and pray that he is finding peace within himself. and that he can battle whatever he needs to, so he stays strong once he comes home. not only for himself, but for Sara and Leah too.

whatever anybody may have thought or heard, or read over the past year.... i love him very much and only want the best for him. i truly only want him to be happy. it's all i ever wanted.... i hope that deep in his heart he knows it!

happy easter everyone! i love and miss you guys very much!
~Gina

ashes,

it's rather early for you to be out here, no? fittingly enough, i'm easing into track three of 'eclectic ashes' "if ever i return - all your cities i would burn"... i'll have you know, i enjoyed a lovely slow dance at a mock crucifiction in toronto's little italy yesterday. it was delightfully inappropriate. i'm still smiling.

whatever your room number be tonight, be well.

your friend,

ian

my only brother, mcglone:
..the clock's runnin' late ..no sleep for a few days. If you are listening to "Eclectic," then eventually the following lyrics will find you:

"In some cemetery midnight
Underneath a wreath of rock
A living man awakens
And surveys his tomb in shock

How often do the dead wake
We thought were safely buried
With their secrets which would shake
The wind on which they're carried...."
["Touch of Darkness," by Robert Hunter, @1968-eternity]

You made Easter real for me this year by showing up here this morning; Thank You.

Room numbers are not necessary ...think about it comrade,

Ain't it the truth? 07 just about killed me...multiple times. If it weren't for Arb, I'd figure everyone was against me...well, almost.

Good morning to you my good friend and brother, 'AshesRising' on this Easter Sunday.

Happy sad to read your thread and experience that electric emotion as i feel the words of your good self and all my fellow gude doods in the 'unbroken chain' as you put it in your moving and beautiful post.
'direwolf0701' is never very far from my hopes and wishes. My old man, whom i loved dearly, drank himself into an early grave, leaving me with a legacy, which included my meeting up with all you kind people, so i thank you for that too, Dad.
That which doesn't kick the living shit out of us, makes us stronger, as dire might say, when he returns. i'm looking forward to seeing his hairy old hide again.

Right now i'm listening to today's 'Show on This Day in History' from '95 and letting it rain over me, watching big old snowflakes settle on my windows and melt.

Thank you Ashes for these thoughts, I hope Direwolf is going to receive some light during this time and the help and assistance he needs, from us, from others...

A peaceful Easter to you and everyone else.

"a wiser man than I once said....."

Excellent post, friend. I find it refreshing when I'm brought to a cognizant awareness with help from a friend that there truly are more important things in "life".

Might I suggest http://www.archive.org/details/gd71-12-31.fm.lanum.135.sbeok.shnf
track 5 for you and absolutely echo the Terrapin request for dire.
